I’m Gabby and I started First Crush because I love wine. It’s delicious (duh) and complex — chemically, geographically, historically, politically etc. All the complexities that make it interesting can also make it intimidating and lead to gate-keeping. I’m not into that. The real beauty of wine is the connection it creates among strangers and friends, wine newbies and wine nerds alike. My goal with First Crush is to host events that make wine fun and accessible without the jargon and exclusivity, creating a low pressure way to learn about wine and meet new people.
I love to collaborate with other local creatives and experiment with new concepts, so the exact style, format and venue of my events change regularly. But my goal for each event is to teach you something new about wine, offer some delicious food made by local folks, and spark new connections - whether that’s a friend or a new crush. <3
I started First Crush in 2024 following a year of hosting pop-ups with Maya Mukhopadhaya as Jadu, which is now open in JP as a café by day and wine bar by night. Keep an eye out for collabs!
